AWFA is so excited to announce that we have a new training location in Geelong, Victoria. This isn't your ordinary training location - we will now be setting up camp at Geelong Lawn Tennis Club, Australia's oldest provincial tennis club.

Australia Wide First Aid (AWFA) is so excited to announce that we have a new training location in Geelong, Victoria.

Our new Geelong training location will join an impressive list of over 15 AWFA centres dotted across Victoria, including Melbourne, Bendigo, and Frankston.

And at Geelong, we’re not setting up stumps at any old training centre – we will now be delivering our innovative first aid courses at the Geelong Lawn Tennis Club.

Geelong Lawn Tennis Club has a rich history as Australia’s oldest provincial tennis club, and it now boasts over 25 different tennis courts, a fitness studio, and a fully staffed bar & lounge area.

Continue reading for a more in-depth look at all the bells and whistles our new Geelong training location has to offer, as well as what you can expect from an AWFA first aid training course.

The History of AWFA in Victoria

Here at AWFA, we have been delivering industry-leading first aid training since 1996.

We have over 75 training centres located throughout the country, approximately 16 of which are concentrated in Victoria alone.

Our Victorian training centres, as with all our training centres, are primed for our customers’ convenience:

  • Parking and Transport: Most of our Victorian training centres have onsite parking or, at the very least, available parking that is only a stone’s throw away. In any case, our Victorian training centres can be reached by public transport.
  • Facilities: When you think of our Victorian training centres, think of comfortable, classroom-style environments that are kitted out with seating, drinking water, amenities, and hygiene measures in line with current infection controls. We know that students learn best when they aren’t distracted by niggling thoughts like, “when was this manikin last cleaned?”, which is why we work tirelessly to make our Victorian training centres conducive to your ‘peace of mind’.
  • Trainers: We don’t employ just any person off the street to train our students. Our trainers are industry leaders who use real-world and personal experiences to instil their students with the skills and confidence to assist in any crisis.

The Geelong Lawn Tennis Club

As we mentioned earlier, the Geelong Lawn Tennis Club was established in 1882 and is Australia’s oldest provincial tennis club.

According to their Facebook page, Geelong Lawn Tennis Club is now home to over 25 different tennis courts, including:

  • 13 grass courts
  • 8 porous courts
  • 6 plexicushion courts, and
  • 3 squash and racquetball courts

It is also home to:

  • A fully equipped health club, including a modern fitness studio and group exercise area
  • Social and function areas, including a fully staffed bar and lounge area

What You Can Expect from Your First Aid Training

Here at AWFA, our primary objective is to help you become a confident and effective first aider.

As such, our first aid courses are split into two digestible chunks – the online eLearning component, and the face-to-face assessed training.

The online eLearning component must be completed at least the night before attending your first aid course. It is a multiple-choice quiz that you can attempt as many times as you need. You’ll be supported through your learning with our free First Aid eBook, which we’ve curated with plenty of explanatory text and images to help clarify different first aid procedures.

Once you’ve breezed through your online quiz, you’ll be able to put your knowledge to the test under the guidance and support of an experienced AWFA trainer. The face-to-face assessed training will encompass a variety of first aid procedures, including how to perform CPR, how to use an AED, and how to treat and bandage different stings, bites, breaks, and burns.

Our trainers are not only on-hand to demonstrate proper first aid technique, they’ll check your technique to ensure that you leave the classroom with absolute clarity on how to manage different emergency scenarios.

Conclusion

Our new Geelong location is based at the Geelong Lawn Tennis Club, the oldest provincial tennis club in our country’s history.

We couldn’t be more excited about the move, as Geelong Lawn Tennis Club was only recently refurbished, and it now boasts an enviable array of tennis courts, fitness facilities, and function areas.

AWFA has a long history in Victoria, and all our Victorian training centres are primed for our students’ comfort. We have plenty of on-site parking and amenities, as well as strict hygiene measures in line with current infection controls.

What’s more, our trainers are industry leaders who use their expansive professional and personal experiences to help their students become the most effective first aiders possible.

Your first aid training session at the Geelong Lawn Tennis Club, together with the online eLearning component, will no doubt instil you with the confidence and know-how to assist in any crisis.
