First aid training is not a substitute for professional medical care. However, competent first aiders can respond confidently to the casualty's condition while keeping other bystanders safe. This can greatly increase the casualty's chance of survival and a full recovery.
Before we look at our Mount Isa first aid training, let's look at why becoming a certified first aider is important.
First aid is the immediate medical assistance rendered to a person who has sustained a sudden illness or injury while waiting for professional medical care.
Competent first aiders are trained to take control of the emergency scene and respond effectively to the casualty's condition. This can subsequently reduce the casualty's risk of permanent disability and even death.
Likewise, competent first aiders are trained to identify and minimise potential hazards in the home and workplace. This is why Safe Work Australia makes first aid training a requirement for many Australian jobs.

So why are we setting up stumps at Mount Isa?
Because Mount Isa serves as the administrative, commercial, and industrial centre of Queensland's vast north-western region.
It is home to Mount Isa Mines, one of the most productive single mines in world history, and the artificial Lake Moondarra. Lake Moondarra provides the city with drinking water and is a hub for water sports, bird watching, and other recreational activities.
At Mount Isa, we will be running our first aid courses out of the Mount Isa Neighbourhood Centre.
The Mount Isa Neighbourhood Centre provides a range of social services to individuals and families in the Mount Isa community. This includes general counselling, emergency relief, homemaker and childcare services, and social and recreational activities.
